<br /> Kcee in a radio interview on Friday has asked Mavin first lady, Tiwa Savage to tell the public the truth about her marriage. It will be recalled that there have been speculations that Tiwa’s marriage to TeeBillz her former manager might be going through crisis. <br />
The rumours escalated when Tiwa casually wished her husband a happy birthday online with no personal messages. She was also recently interviewed on Olisa Adibua’s The Truth talk show and Tiwa bluntly refused to talk about her marriage. Kcee during the radio interview however advised her to tell her fans the truth about her marriage for the sake of her career and family.<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
Looks like some people don’t joke when it comes to r**e issues, as an Indian man got justice from an angry mob, after he attempted to r**e a little girl. The man identified as Suresh Kumar, 40, arose the anger of locals in the Indian city of Ganganagar, when they heard a teenage girl’s screams from down an alley, as he attempted to r**e her pinning her to a wall. The man’s genitals was hacked off with a meat cleaver, by the angry mob as they took the law into its own hands, dragging him, into a butcher’s shop. Following a community meeting, the vigilantes decided to drag him to a local butcher’s shop where they beat him with sticks for an hour, before chopping off his penis with a meat cleaver and dumped the remais in the middle of the road with Kumar’s bleeding body nearby. I have never been an advocate for mob justice, but do you think the punishment wasn’t too extreme for someone who hadn’t even committed the r**e yet???<br />

Every hour of every single day<br />
My thoughts remind me of the way<br />
We met and pledged our love to each other<br />
As we shared every word and deed like no other<br />
It was a day even my dreams can tell<br />
As my every word narrates its loving tale<br />
Of how nature’s all-seeing eyes blinked to our love<br />
Saying you’re free to fly farther and further than the dove<br />
Oh! Come and stay with me forever<br />
For I am nothing without you, my angel<br />
Come, my all, come and be with me forever<br />
Making my life true, noble and whole forever<br />
Would you say no, breaking my soul<br />
Please I care also for your sublime soul<br />
Breaking it is shattering and battering my life<br />
And making us two caught in life’s roll of broken hearts<br />
Oh! I love you more than poems and rhymes<br />
More than vibes and mimes transcending lifetimes<br />
Come, my soul’s heart, and stay with me for endless years<br />
Beyond reasons and seasons, beyond the world’s sages and seers<br />
Come, my love, and stay with me more than a while<br />
Sharing our lives beyond life’s farthest miles<br />
Sharing all we are and will ever be<br />
Come, stay with me forever

<br />
I’m a Benue man but married to a Yoruba Lady. We’ve been married for <br />
over 3 Years with a lovely child. I just discovered that my wife is a <br />
lesb!an and has a serious lesb!an partner.<br /><br />
<br />
I didn’t know that Toyin her friend who visits her regularly in our <br />
home is her lesb!an lover not until the day I caught them red handed <br />
making love in our matrimonial home.<br /><br />
<br />
That day I told my wife I was traveling for a 2 days Seminar, on my <br />
way I was told that the seminar has been canceled. I have to come back <br />
home later in the evening, when I opened the bedroom door my wife and <br />
her lesb!an lover were deeply making love, fingering and kissing <br />
themselves to an extent that they can’t even know if someone is watching<br />
them or not.<br /><br />
<br />
Before I caught her, I have been noticing some strange things but I <br />
ignored it because I never felt my own wife could do such a thing. I <br />
went through her blackberry phone days ago and I couldn’t believe the BB<br />
chat I read between her and someone I thought was just her friend. <br />
Another married woman for that matter. Their chat was of a S*xual <br />
nature, something you would expect between a man and a woman. This lady <br />
even sent photos of her brea.sts and private parts to my wife.<br /><br />
<br />
I eventually confronted my wife about it and she said they were just joking around. Who jokes around with honeypot photos?<br /><br />
<br />
Now that I have caught them red-handed in our bedroom, she can’t deny<br />
it any longer. She is begging me for forgiveness but I want to end the <br />
marriage.<br /><br />
<br />
I can’t stay in marriage with a lesb!an. Lesb!an is demonic.<br /><br />
<br />
What should I do now?<br /><br />
Should I divorce her or not?<br /><br />
<br />
Please Drop your Advice as Comment!! God Bless You all.<br /><br />

<br />
<br />
According to Sahara Reporters the Nigerian military learnt that the
sect plan to carry out multiple explosions. To prevent the tragic
development the military announced strict measures regrading the
movement of vehicles in Borno.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Army’s 7th Division spokesman Colonel Sani Usman said in a statement
that information“at the disposal of security agencies reveals that Boko
Haram terrorists have perfected plans to launch multiple bomb explosions
in Maiduguri metropolis and other major towns across Borno State during
the Eid El Kabir celebrations 2014 using motor vehicles, tricycles,
etc. Their main targets include Sallah praying grounds, markets and
other public places.”<br />
Vehicular movement will be banned in Borno from 5 p.m. today, October 3, to 7 a.m. on Monday, October 6.<br />
Usman urged Nigerian Muslims to perform Eid El Kabir prayers at praying grounds close to their homes adding:<br />
“While necessary security measures are being implemented, members of
the general public are hereby requested to comply fully with this
embargo as defaulters will be severely sanctioned.”<br />
The spokesman stated however that workers of hospital and other essential services make an exemption from the order.<br />
Nigerians were asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious
objects, movements and persons to the nearest security agencies.<br />
It would be recalled that reports about possible attacks on Maiduguri
first surfaced last month and were based on the gathered intelligence.
The information emerged as Boko Haram continued seizing news Nigerian
towns and declaring caliphate in the captured territories.<br />
Amid the fears that the state capital might be soon fall under
control of the insurgents, soldiers soon started evacuating families
from two major barracks.<br />
However the Nigerian military have recently repelled several attacks
on Konduga town, which was supposed to become a gateway for storming
Maiduguri. In September 17 operation the the Nigerian defence claimed
the army had killed the impersonator of Boko Haram leader Abubakar
Shekau. Still, yesterday “Shekau” appeared in the new video saying he is
still alive, but the DHQ called the information provided in the new
video a manipulation.</div>

EPILOGUE<br />
Anike woke up the day after her wedding and immediately realized she was
in bed alone. She felt the panic rising somewhere in the pit of her
stomach. Where is my husband? She wondered. Maybe he already hates being
married to me and has bolted. She clumsily jumped out of bed and pulled
her nightgown around her. She tied the belt while her feet found her
fluffy slippers. Just then, the bedroom door opened and Stephan walked
in <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_2" style="font-weight: bold; height: 16px;">bearing</span> a tray. Anike almost collapsed with relief when she saw him.<br />
‘Good morning, iyawo.’ Stephan said with a boyish grin. ‘Were you planning on escape?’<br />
Anike threw her head back and laughed. ‘I thought you bolted.’<br />
‘What? Not in a million years.’ He gave her a peck on the forehead
before dropping his tray on the bedside stool. ‘Breakfast in bed for
Mrs. Rossi.’<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
She beamed and went back to the bed. She sat upright with her back to
the headboard and her legs stretched out in front of her. Stephan handed
his wife a plate of freshly made pancakes from the tray. He sat down on
the edge of the bed and watched her take the first bite. He sat down on
the edge of the bed, lifted her legs and placed them gently on his
thigh.<br />
‘This is divine, il mio amore.’<br />
‘Oh, it’s nothing.’ Stephan replied, waving his hand in false modesty.
He picked up the teacup and teaspoon left on the tray and passed them to
Anike. She stirred the tea and took a sip before dropping it back on
the tray.<br />
‘Very milky. Just the way I like it.’ Anike commented.<br />
Stephan smiled and picked a pancake from her plate. He was about to take
a bite when Anike’s phone rang. He got up and got it from the dresser.<br />
‘Who could be calling so early?’ She asked.<br />
‘Dunno, it’s a number.’<br />
She collected the phone and glanced at the screen. It was a number she didn’t recognize.<br />
‘Hello?’ she said tentatively into the phone. She waited for the caller’s response before asking who it was.<br />
‘This is Mosun Ayeni.’ The voice replied.<br />
Anike’s jaw dropped. Chief Dr. (Mrs) Mosunmola Ayeni was the most
revered woman in the country. The latest publication by Forbes had named
her second only to Oprah Winfrey on the list of the world’s richest
women. Mosunmola Ayeni was into every sector of the economy, a <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_3" style="font-weight: bold; height: 16px;">billionaire</span>
and a philanthropist who gave away hundreds of millions of naira every
year. Although she was still in her forties, she had been awarded one of
the highest National Merit Awards of the country and Anike had a deep
admiration for her. She simply could not understand why such an
important person was calling her.<br />
‘I just want to congratulate you on your latest award. I think you’re an inspiration to women everywhere.’<br />
‘Thank you, ma.’ Anike replied, flustered. ‘It means a lot coming from you.’<br />
‘I have one little proposal for you, Anike.’ The older woman said,
cutting right to the chase. ‘You see, my husband has been bugging me to
write an autobiography for the past couple of years but I’ve managed to
resist until now. Yesterday when I saw your wedding on TV however, a
brilliant idea occurred to me. I read Behind Every <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_5" style="font-weight: bold; height: 16px;">Cloud</span> and I just <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_4" style="font-weight: bold; height: 16px;">love</span>
your style of writing; so forthright and honest. So here’s my proposal,
I’m ready to write my autobiography and i want you to help me. You’ll
get credit of course and you’ll also be paid handsomely for your
trouble’<br />
Anike was dumbfounded. She was been given the chance to write the
biography of one of the most powerful women in the world. It felt <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_1" style="font-weight: bold; height: 16px;">more</span>
like a dream than reality and she was tempted to pinch herself. She
didn’t need to however as Stephan chose that particular moment to tickle
her feet. She snapped to and stammered what she hoped was a positive
response into the phone.<br />
‘That’s great.’ Mosun Ayeni squealed. She was obviously excited about
the project. ‘You’ll easily come up with another bestseller and be even
more famous.’<br />
Anike didn’t know how to reply but she didn’t need to as her caller soon
gave her directions to fly to Abuja the next week so they could iron
out the details of their arrangement. That was when Mosun Ayeni told her
how much she would be paid for the project and Anike was blown away.
She was shocked at the amount she would be paid for something she would
enjoy doing. They soon concluded their <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_6" style="font-weight: bold; height: 16px;">chat</span> and hung up.<br />
Anike turned to face Stephan. ‘That was Mosunmola Ayeni and she wants to hire me to write her autobiography.’

THE MYSTERY WAR (Dedicated to Chibok Girls)</h1>

We had sailed in the ship collectively<br />
Until you came in tempest and liberate shipwreck<br />
With your civilian uniform of rescue<br />
Holding the Key to our eternal jail<br />
Irrigating our rivers to your subsistence farm<br />
Impregnating our dreams on the palm trees<br />
In the night you turned to mosquitoes of our bed<br />
In the morning we waked in grief malaria<br />
We have fought the unbrotherly War<br />
Bringing glory at noon but our War is with us<br />
The zigzag line run across our heads<br />
We remain circled in afflictions<br />
When is dawn in bundle, we wail in bondage<br />
Perusing the pamphlet;<br />

I saw the Hens soaked in their <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_8" style="font-weight: bold; height: 16px;">palm oil</span><br />
Yet no Chibok speared by the butchers<br />
And our saviors listened with deaf ears<br />
But we are the Foes that bring your pleasure<br />
If war we must have, make me the warrior<br />
Killing myself; killing them all<br />
But where are our slained fellows?<br />

Remember <strong>Skales</strong>? The artiste who got booted off<strong> EME</strong> and left to wander in the swamp of irrelevance? Yes, that Skales is reportedly worth about N200Million naira now.<br />
The Rapper c*m <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_2" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">Singer</span> seems to have finally gotten a bit <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_1" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">more</span> push towards that Grammy he has since been heading for.<br />
Skales whose real names are <strong>Raoul Njeng-Njeng</strong> got snatched up recently by Baseline <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_3" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">Music</span> in a mouth-watering deal that’s estimated to cost about N200million.<br />
The deal includes a house, a new <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_4" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">car</span>, cash advance, videos and promotion of his album that will drop in November.<br />
The label which is fronted by industry heavyweight, Howie T promises to change Skales’ lifestyle.<br />
“I cannot give you any specific figure because we don’t want other
artistes to start running to us, however what I can tell you is that the
deal is worth hundreds of millions.<br />
It includes his <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_8" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">new car</span>, new house and total lifestyle package. We are changing his whole lifestyle,” Howie T confirmed to the NET.<br />
He further added, “Skales will be at the NEA awards in New York at
the end of the month, after that he’s going to London for a concert, and
then to Canada on a tour, [then] he’ll drop his album in November.<br />
So you see it’s a total package, we don’t want to create any form of
distraction by revealing any figures, but trust me it’s a huge deal,
it’s about the biggest deal in the industry at the moment.”<br />
Baseline is reportedly owned by one of Kessington Adebutu’s sons.<br />
It’s ran by Howie <strong>T and Dipo Abdul of KISS Group.</strong><br />

One of Nigeria’s biggest musical exports,<strong> Davido</strong> had to <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_8" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">cancel</span> a show in<strong> Cameroon</strong> after he was denied entry by the West African country.<br />
The HKN Gang star act was reportedly denied entry because of the fear of the Ebola <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_2" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">virus</span> which has, according to WHO, claimed over 1000 lives and hospitalized over 30,000 in recent times.<br />
The chartered aircraft of the ‘<strong>Skelewu’</strong> crooner wasn’t allowed to land because <span class="jfcsihpx1" id="jfcsihpx1_3" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">flights</span> from Nigeria were not cleared to land in Cameroon. <br />
“His people tried different means, even attempting to go in through
Ghana, but they met brick walls”, a source revealed to the NET.<br />
No word about the incident has come forth from the HKN Gang yet.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
There is something about us, Nigerians, that is quite difficult to
understand, much less explain. For one, we think we are unique and
completely different from the rest of the world. After all, we don’t
suffer earthquakes or landslides, neither do we experience Tsunamis or
hurricanes. So, we think we are invincible. For instance, in March 2014,
when the first case of <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_7" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">Ebola</span> <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_1" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">virus</span>
disease was reported in Guinea, I guess our initial response was: “E no
concern us.” By simple logic, we should know that Guinea is within our
region, the West African sub-region. With free trade and free movement
among ECOWAS countries, the possibility of transporting the virus across
border was very high. For whatever reason, we thought “e no concern
us.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Then the disease spread to Sierra Leone and Liberia. The infections and <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_10" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">death toll</span>
were rapidly increasingly. We read it in newspapers. We watched it on
TV. At no time did I hear of any pre-emptive measure being taken to
prevent Nigeria and Nigerians from the virus, which kills mercilessly
and swiftly. We probably thought it is Liberia’s problem. We could say
Guinea was far away. We could say Nigeria had no direct links or
interaction with the Francophone country and its citizens. But the
moment the virus made an entry into Sierra Leone and Liberia, we needed
to be worried and act quickly - given that we have direct air links with
those countries. But “e no concern us”.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Although the virus is not airborne, it nonetheless made its way into
Nigeria by air. A Liberian-</div>
<a name='more'></a>American named Patrick Sawyer flew the agent
of death into Nigeria, and now from one infection to another, we have
become vulnerable. The doctor who treated him contracted the virus. The
nurse also got the virus and died. Several other persons have been
infected. As at last count, seven cases have been confirmed. Two of
those who had primary or secondary contact with Sawyer have escaped into
thin air, despite claims that they had been quarantined. Only God knows
where they are now.<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Again, this shows our uniqueness as Nigerians. If you had contact with a
highly contagious disease like Ebola, you should ordinarily make
yourself available for treatment. It is your life. It is not just your
life, without treatment you could ruin the lives of others. But
Nigerians? God forbid. The first thing is denial. “It can never happen
to me”. “God will not allow it”. And then when the <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_2" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">symptoms</span>
begin to manifest, the next thing is to look for some dubious solution -
a visit to some prophet or herbalist somewhere who says he has all the
powers to cure all kinds of illnesses. Another dubious solution,
apparently, is to develop a cure like bitter kola and salt bath. Nigeria
is just an incredible country.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Sure, I commend the Lagos State government for the way it has reacted
to this threat. It has, within record time, delivered an isolation
centre. It has been embarking on public enlightenment. A few days after
the Liberian died, I put a call through to my mum to enlighten her. She
told me she had been following developments on television. I asked her
not to eat “bush meat”. I gave her other tips. She told some of the
things she had already learnt from watching the local TV station. I was
very happy. In situations like this, public enlightenment is key.
Misinformation is a major battle that has to be fought and won by
government.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Perhaps, jolted by the criticism over his handling of Chibok
kidnappings (that is why I like criticisms, even from my enemies),
President Goodluck <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_8" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">Jonathan</span>
has also swung into action, announcing a series of measures under an
emergency plan to contain the spread of the virus. The Minister of
Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, has had his <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_3" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">headache</span>
compounded - dealing with Ebola in the midst of yet another strike by
our doctors. I don’t envy him, but I think he has reacted commendably to
the Ebola challenge.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Having said this, however, I think the Federal Government erred by not
taking preventative measures. What we are doing now is reacting - after
the deed had been done. It is still better than nothing, and maybe the
virus could have entered Nigeria through some other means because of our
fenceless borders - in any case. But we have absolute control over <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_4" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">air travel</span>,
especially from the ECOWAS countries. It is an indictment on us that it
was Arik Air that on its own decided not to fly to Sierra Leone and
Liberia. It was not a government decision. I would also like to know:
what was the instruction to the Port Health Department at the airports
and seaports before Sawyer came to Nigeria?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Well, it has happened. The virus is here. The victims are here. We must
now move forward from here, to prevent its spread and treat those
afflicted. A very vital step forward is massive public enlightenment. It
is as important as the isolation wards that we want to build. Last
week, some evidently deranged Nigerian sent a message out on the <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_11" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">social media</span> that bathing with salt and drinking warm water with salt would kill the virus. Trust Nigerians. The salt seller smiled to the <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_6" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">bank</span> as gullible citizens rushed to the market, and people have been reported dead from an overdose of salt. By now, people with <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_5" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">high blood pressure</span> who fell for the trick might have damaged their health beyond remedy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
This is the time for the government to roll out its full information
machinery to educate Nigerians on how to avoid this virus and what they
should do if they think they have caught it. The Federal Government, in
collaboration with all states, have a central system that will monitor
the social media and other information channels very carefully so as to
know the falsehood that deranged individuals are spreading - in order
to counter it and put the truth out there. It is very, very important.
The virus will continue to spread if we allow ignorance to spread. Only
God knows how many people have died drinking too much salt and consuming
too much bitter kola.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Now that N1.9billion has been released by President Jonathan to combat
the pandemic, let’s hope this is not going to be another sleaze. We are
so fraud-minded in Nigeria that even misfortunes excite us. We’re simply
special. “E no concern us”.<br />
</div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: red;"><strong>AND FOUR OTHER THINGS.</strong></span></h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<strong>CONGRATS, OSUN!</strong><br />
Those who say we can’t have peaceful elections in Nigeria got another
shocker yesterday when the governorship poll in Osun State held without
major incidents. You can argue that we had to deploy heavy security,
including the military, to achieve the peace and you would be right.
Until we hold elections with minimal security, we cannot claim to have
arrived. It is a worry. As usual, the security agents reportedly <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_9" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">arrested</span>
some APC stalwarts for reasons I cannot easily understand - apart from
their tendency to be overzealous. Nevertheless, the election went well
and the result should be credible. Hopefully.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<strong>LOSING AND RETAKING</strong><br />
Nigerian military authorities made a somewhat embarrassing but honest
admission last week: they said they had lost parts of Nigerian territory
in Borno State to Boko Haram insurgents. They didn’t say it directly.
Defence Headquarters announced that it had taken Delwa, Mustafari,
Manga, Wanga and Damboa back from the terrorists. While I’m not trying
to belittle the efforts of our military, how were the militants able to
take these towns from us? Is it that they outnumbered or outgunned our
soldiers? Are these militants so armed, so solid that they can take five
towns from us just like that? Baffling.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<strong>STRATEGIC AL -MAKURA</strong><br />
Nasarawa Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has taught Vice Admiral Murtala
Nyako some political lesson: you don’t go to war barehanded. Irony:
Nyako, a former chief of naval staff, should be the one lecturing us on
warfare. That Al-Makura has survived the moves against him by the
PDP-dominated house of assembly has further confirmed that you can
subvert impeachment in many ways. If the lawmakers are not with you,
that is not the end of the world. By constituting a probe panel
considered to be largely pro-Al-Makura, the chief judge, Justice
Suleiman Dikko, effectively pulled the rug off the lawmakers’ feet.
Clinical.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<strong>TROUBLED WORLD</strong><br />
Thousands killed in Gaza crisis as Israel kills an ant with a sledge
hammer. Islamic State killing minorities in Iraq and destroying history.
Christian militias killing Muslims in Central African Republic as
anarchy continues. Hundreds murdered aboard MH17 flight shot down above
Ukrainian skies as Russian President Vladmir Putin continues his bid to
resurrect Soviet Union. War in newly-born South Sudan. Unending war in
Syria, with over 200,000 killed in three years. Boko Haram and female
suicide bombers sending panic all over Nigeria. You just have to wonder
why bloodshed appeals to so many people. Depressing.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Details have emerged about the first Nigerian to die of the deadly Ebola <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_2" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">Virus</span>
and how she was infected with the virus. She was a nurse at the
First Consultant Hospital, Obalende, Lagos and was on duty on that
fateful day when Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian, was brought in for
treatment.<br />
The veteran nurse said to be in her 50s, was a mother of four, who
lost her husband just recently, making her the breadwinner of her
family.</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
She was the nurse that received Sawyer on arrival at the <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_4" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">hospital</span>. After initial <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_3" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">checks</span>
were carried out on him and his temperature was seen to be high, it
was her that administered a drip on him following a directive from a
27-year old medical officer who joined the hospital two months earlier
after his housemanship. These young medical officer also gave a helping
hand in the process of administering the drip on Sawyer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Like any diligent and compassionate caregiver would have done, she gave
Sawyer all the care needed. She even assisted him into the <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_5" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">bathroom</span>
by helping him to hold his drip when he requested to use the toilet.
She would later attend to other patients who came to the hospital for
treatment at that period.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sawyer had told the medical team on duty that he had malaria. But event
began to unfold in quick succession when the result of the first series
of tests conducted on Sawyer still did not show any trace of malaria.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He still did not tell the hospital personnel that he had Ebola – a
deadly and contagious virus that kills its carrier in a matter of days.<br />
A second <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_6" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">test</span>
was then carried out, which also did not show any trace of malaria.
That was when the possibility that he may be suffering from a <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_1" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">more</span> serious ailment began to dawn on the medical team.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When Sawyer was told of the possibility that he may have been infected
with Ebola virus, he was said to have become enraged, and even demanded
to leave, a request the hospital rejected.<br />
Not even the intervention of an ambassador from the Liberian embassy,
who also requested that Sawyer should be released because of his status
as a top government official and a diplomat, would make the hospital
release him. Instead, the hospital took a proactive step by informing
relevant authorities of the presence of a suspected Ebola patient. That
was the decisive action that saved the nation from ‘a weaponised’ human
being that would have been unleashed on its population.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sawyer could not be said to have been oblivious of his health status
before heading to Nigeria. Even at the Liberian airport where he boarded
an Asky Flight to Nigeria, he looked ill, avoided body contact with
people at the airport in his country, and at a point before boarding, he
laid down on his stomach - an indication that he was in great pain – as
caught on the <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_7" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">surveillance camera</span>. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Even on arrival in Lagos, the Liberian was still terribly ill and was
assisted out of the aircraft. Even though his point of embarkment was
Liberia, a country in the throes of Ebola, no one thought he was a
carrier of a deadly virus. And within hours after his arrival, he ended
up at First Consultant Hospital.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is believed that he may have contracted the virus from his sister
who was said to have died of the disease not long ago. But what he did
after that was unimaginable. He converted himself to a ‘weapon of mass
destruction’ and chose his target – Nigeria, the most populous country
in Africa. Though, he is dead, his arrival now put the nation’s 170
million people at the risk of this deadly virus.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The diligent nurse who was among the first set of Nigerians that had
primary contact with him died days after Sawyer’s death. Two of her
children who were living with her have also been quarantined for close
monitoring.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Also, one of the patients she attended to when Sawyer was on admission
has tested positive to the virus. That patient was the lady whose
presence at the NNPC <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_8" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">Clinic</span> in Lagos for treatment led to the closure of the medical facility last week.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The 27 year- old medical officer that attended to Sawyer has also
tested positive to Ebola virus and he is among the eight Nigerians that
have tested positive to the deadly virus, seven of whom are currently
under close observation at the Mainland <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_9" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">Infectious Diseases</span> Hospital, Yaba.<br />
Another nurse who was on duty on that fateful day and who carried out
checks on him has also tested positive to Ebola virus. She is among the
nine confirmed cases in the country, while 139 others are said to be
under surveillance.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But there are fears about how feasible it would be to identify all
secondary contacts. For instance, the driver who conveyed Sawyer from
the airport to First Consultant Hospital was said to have ran to his
village before he was later found and quarantined for further
observation.<br />
Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, noted this while confirming
that relvant authorities know the whereabouts of all primary contacts,
but "secondary contacts are much more in number and knowing about them
depends on information given by the primary contact.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are also worries about the dearth of care-givers at the
quarantine center. It was gathered that only one caregiver, who is a WHO
official, is attending to the seven confirmed carriers of the virus at
the center, all of whom are said to be in a hall – a development that
showed that Nigeria was really not prepared for this kind of an
infectious disease outbreak.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Already President Goodluck Jonathan has declared a national emergency
and approved N1.9 billion special fund to combat the disease, while the
minister of health has announced government’s intention to provide <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_10" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">insurance cover</span> for those willing to be caregivers.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
There are still some salient posers which demand urgent anwers: Are we prepared for this kind of <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_11" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">medical emergency</span>?
How do we get proper and well equipped quarantine centers within the
shortest possible time? How do we find caregivers that would be willing
to work at quarantine centers? And even if we get caregivers, are they
well trained to handle this kind of situation? At the various ports of
entry, should an Ebola infected person be identified what measure
should be taken immediately?</div>

NSA, Col. <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_2" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">Mohammed Sambo Dasuki</span> (rtd)<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
By Senator Iroegbu </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (rtd)
has said the activities of the Jamaatu Ahlis Sunna Liddaawati Wal Jihad
commonly known as Boko Haram, is threatening the very democratic
foundations and good governance structures of <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_1" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">Nigeria</span>.<br />
Dasuki stated this at the weekend in the United States while delivering
a keynote address on "Challenges of Governance in an Era of Insurgency"
at the Nigeria Security Summit, themed: Insecurity, Nigeria and Beyond,
organised by Harvard University’s Radcliffe Institute for Advanced
Study.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He said that the terrorists strive not only to dismantle democratic
structures, but to prevent the provision of state services, such as
health, education, commerce and security.<br />
He also disclosed that "their activities have forced thousands to flee
their homes, jobs and communities, pushing them into poverty."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Stressing the need to understand the effects of insurgency on
governance, he noted the additional challenges leaders face in their bid
to deliver on their promises to citizens.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to the NSA, one very glaring consequence of insurgency was
that all other governance issues become subordinate to security
considerations.<br />
He said: "This consumed both time and energy on the part of the general public and the government in particular.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"A central casualty of the insurgency was that government had to divert
scarce resources that could better support development needs to
security issues." <br />
<br />
Dasuki explained that before the onset of Boko Haram, many foreign
partners of Nigeria were mainly interested in governance issues, as it
relates to corruption, followed by concern about the conduct of free,
fair and credible elections.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He lamented that currently, the pressure on Nigeria and the main focus
of foreign intervention, especially from foreign governments is how to
tackle insurgency.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Consequently, he added, assistance from donor countries is slowly
shifting from economic issues to security issues which necessitates that
the relationship between Nigeria and many countries, including her
neighbours, which used to be dominated by trade and technical
cooperation have been replaced by security considerations.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The insurgency has re-shaped and redefined the classification of Nigeria in many peoples’ minds all over the world.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“The country’s name is now being mentioned along with those of other
countries that have had long standing terrorism challenges. Ordinary
Nigerians have also redefined their views of the security situation in
the country," he said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to him, the issues that used to agitate the minds of the
people, in the immediate past, such as armed robbery and kidnapping have
been downgraded given the scale of destruction and devastation caused
by Boko Haram’s indiscriminate targeting of civilians. <br />
Dasuki has however emphasised that "the ability to adapt to this new
environment (of insurgency) while staying focused on real gains (of
democracy and good governance) will be key to government’s success."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He went further to catalogue some of the efforts of the Federal
Government to tackle the growing threat of insurgency and terrorism in
the country, especially the through Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Act
2013, "significant progress has been made.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"It has allowed us to not only define terrorism, but block avenues of
financing for their activities while putting in place structures to deal
with our current threats,” he said.<br />
Dasuki also noted that through the establishment of a Counter Terrorism
Centre and, working with key stakeholders, "we have developed a
National Counter Terrorism Strategy (NACTEST)."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He explained that NACTEST is new and is the first major attempt by the
government of Nigeria to holistically address the terror attacks that
are being perpetrated by violent extremists.<br />
As a sub-set of the overarching National Security Strategy, he said, it
holds a strong promise for Nigerians and seeks to re-engage a
stakeholder population that is losing or may have lost faith in on-going
efforts aimed at addressing threats.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to him, the strategy explains what organisations and
individuals can do to help in its implementation in order to reduce the
risks and ensure that people go about their lives freely and with
confidence.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He said: "The NACTEST is organised around five streams, each with key
objectives and indicators. FORESTALL; to stop people becoming terrorists
or supporting attacks. SECURE; strengthen protection capacity against
terrorist attacks.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"IDENTIFY; pre-empt through detection, early warning and ensuring that
terrorist acts are properly investigated. PREPARE; to mitigate the
impact of terrorist attacks by building resilience and IMPLEMENT; a
framework for the mobilization of a coordinate cross government effort."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He said that 17 Ministries and 27 Departments and Agencies of the
Federal Government are involved in the implementation of the new
strategy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The NSA, however, said that in order to achieve the objectives of
NACTEST, prevent radicalisation and build community resilience, a Soft
Approach to counter-terrorism was designed which has resulted in
Nigeria’s Countering Violent Extremism Program involving local
governments, state governments, civil society organisations and the
private sector.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Also, Mr Robert Rotberg, while delivering a paper on "Fixing Nigeria's
Leadership and Governance Problems Will Assist the Battle against Boko
Haram" warned that "Nigeria is as close to being a failed state as it
has ever been."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Rotberg said that failure to provide basic services like security,
schooling and medical clinics amongst others in large sections of the
nation reflects weak if not poor governance.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He listed five categories of governance including security and safety,
rule of law and transparency, participation and respect for human
rights, sustainable economic opportunity, and the provision of human
development (education, health, etc.).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Nigeria clearly does poorly in the first of those categories, very
poorly in the second, not well in the third, badly in the fourth
(especially in the failure to provide power, roads, and rail), and
rather not so well in the fifth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"All of these long time weaknesses of governance, leading to state failure, have been exacerbated under President Goodluck <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_3" style="font-weight: bold; height: 12px;">Jonathan</span>," he said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to him, to defeat a disciplined and fanatical insurgency like
the one waged by Boko Haram, inspired by some kind of ideological
fervour, disciplined leadership is fundamental.<br />
"Without such leadership the security forces are faced with serious morale problems,” he insisted.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He said that "victory over Boko Haram is only possible if President
Jonathan makes such a victory a national cause and if he and his close
followers find a way to strengthen the legitimacy of the state and of
key state institutions such as the military.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"This would mean Jonathan demonstrating a real belief in the integrity
of the nation, casting aside party and ethnic considerations, and
showing that he really is the leader of all Nigerians, not just
southerners, Christians, or the denizens of Abuja.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Can President Jonathan rise to such heights of good leadership? Or
should we even expect him to be able to aspire to effective leadership
given Nigeria’s many frailties and some of its structural deficits and
difficulties?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Given the extent to which Boko Haram has made mockery of Nigeria’s
established institutions, including the military, it is essential that
Boko Haram be stopped now, not after Nigeria has elected a new leader.
For all of his weaknesses, this is Jonathan’s test of strength.”</div>

Sources revealed that the incident took place at the couple’s apartment at No 23, Temidire <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_1" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">Street</span>, Ajowa area of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.<br />

Narrating the incident to journalists, the <nobr><a class="FAtxtL" href="http://www.naijaloaded.com.ng/2014/08/10/shocker-mother-twins-strangled-death-husband-day-giving-birth-ekiti/#" id="FALINK_3_0_2">landlady</a></nobr> of the deceased, who simply identified herself as Mama <nobr><a class="FAtxtL" href="http://www.naijaloaded.com.ng/2014/08/10/shocker-mother-twins-strangled-death-husband-day-giving-birth-ekiti/#" id="FALINK_5_0_4">Aluko</a></nobr>,
said, “Titilayo was delivered of a set of twins at midnight on August
7. I was with her to help with the children and other things. Her
husband, who has not been living with her for some time now, also came
around, while her mum too was also around.<br />
“Around 8:30 in the evening, her <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_6" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">mother</span>
told me she would be going for night vigil in her church. So, it was
her husband, herself and their new twins that I left before I went to
bed <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_4" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">that night</span>.<br />
“This morning (August 9), I woke up planning whether to prepare
Semovita or fufu for Titilayo. It was around that time somebody came to
inform me that they couldn’t wake Titilayo up and that her husband and
the twins had <nobr><a class="FAtxtL" href="http://www.naijaloaded.com.ng/2014/08/10/shocker-mother-twins-strangled-death-husband-day-giving-birth-ekiti/#" id="FALINK_4_0_3">disappeared</a></nobr>.”<br />

Confirming the development, the Ekiti State’s Police <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_3" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">Public Relations Officer</span>
(PPRO), Mr. Victor Babayemi, said: “It is a case of homicide and child
stealing. The deceased was found dead on the bed in quite a suspicious
circumstance, and the prime suspect is the husband of the woman who we

<br />
<br />
Below is a statement from Senator <strong>Bukola Saraki</strong> congratulating incumbent Governor <strong>Rauf Aregbesola</strong> on his win at the polls.<br />
In spite of the overwhelming pressure mounted by the unnecessary
influx of over 70,000 armed personnel across the state of Osun; the
illegal arrest and harassment of opposition members, and; the propaganda
from the PDP, the <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_5" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">great people</span> of Osun have spoken with their votes.<br />
Osun has decided to give Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola another four year mandate.<br />
I heartily congratulate my brother, Ogbeni Rauf on his sweeping
re-election on the people-centered platform of the ALL Progressives
Congress (APC).<br />
From every <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_3" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">nook and cranny</span>
of the State of Osun, people came out en mass to send a clear and loud
message: we will not be bullied into submission; we will not cower until
we get the change that we rightly deserve; and we will remain united in
the firm belief that we can rescue our nation from the <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_1" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">failed</span> governance of the Peoples Democratic Party.<br />
Osun has shown those seasonal politicians, that come out few months
before election to claim a mandate from the people that no federal might
can defeat the will of a powerful people.<br />
I know there are many out there that believe its time for a change
but are held back because they believe “federal might” can’t be defeated
or the people wish or voice doesn’t count , fellow Nigerians the <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_4" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">good people</span>
of Osun has shown how that is such a fallacy in today’s Nigeria Despite
the clear-cut democratic victory that we have witnessed today, now that
the dust has settled, we must get back to building strong precedents
for our nation.<br />
I commend Nigerians especially the youth of Osun state, who followed
the electoral process all day long to ensure results were not tampered
with at any stage of the electoral process. A <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_2" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">job</span> well done.<br />
The 2015 General Elections are only months away, therefore, before
the single most important democratic contest of our time, we must bring
those that choose to trample on the tenets of our democracy to justice.
We must begin to investigate the <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_6" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">new trend</span>
of arresting opposition leaders prior to elections. We must also begin
to honestly question the restrictions placed on many of our fundamental
Constitutional freedoms when elections come around. Osun is not only a
victory for Ogbeni Rauf and the people of his state, it is a victory for
the future of this nation.<br />
So, as we celebrate this monumental achievement, I urge Ogbeni Rauf
to keep doing the will of his people. I also urge all changemakers,
pacesetters, and progressive minded Nigerians to come on board and join
us in the battle to reclaim the mandate of our nation.<br />
We can rescue Nigeria, however, like Osun has demonstrated today, we have to work hard and work together. <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_8" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">God bless</span> the great people of Osun. God bless the <span class="a1q062d6" id="a1q062d6_7" style="font-weight: bold; height: 14px;">Federal Republic</span> of Nigeria.<br />
<strong>Signed</strong><br />
<br />
