The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday 18th and Monday 21st of April, 2014 as Public Holidays to mark “Good Friday” and Easter celebrations.
The Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Fatima Bamidele on Wednesday, 16 April.
He enjoined all Christian faithfuls and Nigerians in general to use the occasion to pray for peace and unity in the country.

Nigerian Child Bride Kills Man She Was Forced To Marry, 3 Of His Friends

KANO, Nigeria – A child bride forced into marriage in Nigeria killed a groom and three of his friends with a poisoned meal, police said Thursday.
Fourteen-year-old Wasila Umaru was married last week to 35-year-old Umaru Sani, according to assistant superintendent Musa Magaji Majia.
Over the weekend, the groom invited a dozen friends to celebrate at his Ungwar Yansoro village, about 60 miles from the northern city of Kano.
The teenager told police she bought rat poison at a village market and used it to prepare a dish of rice.
“The suspect confessed to committing the crime and said she did it because she was forced to marry a man she did not love,” Majia told The Associated Press.
The groom and a friend died the same day, and two other vic
tims died later in the hospital.
Umaru is cooperating with police and likely will be charged with culpable homicide, according to Majia.
Child marriage is common in Nigeria and especially in the mainly Muslim and impoverished north, where the numbers increase in times of drought because a bride price is paid and it means one less mouth to feed. Fifty percent of Nigerian girls living in rural areas are married before they turn 18, according to the U.N. children’s agency. That’s a lot of child brides in a country of some 170 million people of whom half are under 18.
Child brides often suffer difficult pregnancies — the leading cause of death worldwide for girls aged 15 to 19 — and are much more likely to contract AIDS and be subjected to domestic violence, according to the International Center for Research on Women.
Early and forced marriage is classified as modern-day slavery by the U.N. labor organization, and Nigeria’s Child Rights Act prohibits marriage before 18. But that federal law competes with Islamic Shariah law that holds in most northern states.
No one in Nigeria has been prosecuted for marrying a child, including Sen. Sani Ahmed Yerima, infamous for divorcing a 17-year-old that he married when she was 15 so he could marry a 14-year-old Egyptian girl in 2010, when he was 49. He had to divorce one of his child brides because Islamic law allows a maximum of four wives at a time.
Many child brides are divorced, for that reason and because of incontinence and other medical problems caused by difficult pregnancies, according to local child rights advocates who say such girls are put out on the street.

Now Birdman has inked something new on his face, which reps his Rich Gang management company (there was a Rich Gang album as well, basically a compilation with all of his homies).
Birdman posted images of his new ink on his Instagram, one of the reflected ‘RG’ as well as another of a finger tattoo that says ‘YMCMYSL’. Pastor Impregnates Mother & Daughter In Delta State
The pastor of a popular Pentecostal Church located along Nnebisi Road, Asaba, Delta State, simply identified as Pastor Sam, is currently on the run after allegedly impregnating a woman and her daughter.
The pastor, who hails from the eastern part of the state, allegedly impregnated the 45-year-old mother of three and her 14-year-old daughter under the guise of conducting prayers for them to deliver them of evil spirits that had been battling them.
It was gathered that the woman and the daughter have been under evil spells after her husband died of inexplicable stomach problems and elders of the Illah community where they live, had consulted seers who accused the woman and her teenage daughter of having a hand in the death.
The duo were said to have been introduced to the pastor around December 2013 and he had promised to reverse every demonic attack on their lives and they have been consulting the pastor until last week when they both took ill and were taken to a private hospital in Asaba by their neighbours, where doctors, after conducting tests confirmed they were both pregnant after which they claimed the pastor was responsible.
Sources said when the news of the pregnancy broke, the pastor who smelt trouble, took off to an unknown destination leaving his church which used to be a beehive of prayer activities, under lock and key.
Confirming the incident, an elder sister of the pregnant woman, one Elizabeth Agu said, “we tried to reach the pastor who they claimed is responsible, through his GSM line but it was switched off and his whereabouts are unknown while the church is also under lock and key,” she added.
